Mission Accomplished

Thanks for your kind thoughts and prayers for us this morning. We made it to the hospital bright and early by 6:15. The next hour-and-fifteen minutes were spent getting us registered, admitted, and acclimated to our surroundings prior to Isaac's surgery. All of the nurses and doctors were very kind and accommodating. As I had hoped, they let me go back into the Operating Room with Isaac while he was going to sleep with the mask. It made for a much more peaceful experience for him (and the nurses, I'm sure). I managed to swallow the big lump in my throat (*gulp*) when I realized this was the 2nd time I had been in an Operating Room with my son - almost 2 years ago now. But then I had to chuckle when we walked back into the OR, Isaac was pointing and proudly exclaiming, "Nurse!" and "Doctor!" Guess all of the reading we had done the last few days have taught him a thing or two.

I rejoined Joel in the waiting area and probably 10 minutes later, "Dr. G" came to give us the report that everything went well and there were no complications. Isaac did have fluid present in both ears, and a blister had formed on his left ear that needed to be ruptured. A little Tylenol for the next 24 hours and some antibiotic ear drops for the next 7 days will round out the treatment plan, and of course plenty of TLC from Mama and Papa!
Joel caught a snapshot from his phone of me in my 'bunny suit' playing with Isaac before we went back. It's not the clearest shot but it gives you the idea. I've also included a couple of other pics of us waiting before/after in our room. As an interesting side note, you may notice that Isaac is in a purple hospital pajama set, and that all of the bedding was also purple. Anyone who knows me knows that my favorite color without question is, and always has been, purple. Believe me when I tell you we had no choice whatsoever in the matter, but it was a neat little coincidence (or was it?). Isaac seems to be in very good spirits since we have left the hospital - wanting to play and run as usual - very thirsty and a big appetite (that's my boy!).

We are relieved to have this behind us and are anxious to experience what difference the tubes will make for Isaac in the weeks and months to come. Thanks again for your thoughts and prayers this morning - we definitely felt them.

  3. That's wonderful news, Heath! I'm so glad to hear that everything went smoothly and that the Lord had His hand on Isaac throughout the process. Glad to hear he's off and ready to play!
